Over time, they evolved to become signal devices, ceremonial items, and percussion instruments. In China they symbolize prosperity and mark social status. The gong is a significant accompaniment in shaman music in Korea. In Japan, the use of gongs and cymbals vary from temple to theatre to folk festival. Approximately 12" diameter; Made of brass.
