Pu-Tai was a wandering Chinese monk of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), known for his protruding belly and constant laugh. Nicknamed the "Laughing Buddha," he often roams the countryside with a sack, spreading goodwill and treasures to the poor. Jade-like glass sculpture of Buddha stands on a large sack. In his right hand, he carries a chain of coins, which represents prosperity.
