The bright red mineral, cinnabar, has a long history in China. The first cinnabar carvings were crafted during the Ming Dynasty of 1368-1644. The vermilion-red stone is now artificially produced from a lacquer which is derived from a tree sap found in China. Each cinnabar fan is hand carved with intricate flowers and birds. 2.75" wide.
