Kwan Yin is the Chinese name for the Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara. She is the Goddess of Mercy and is the most beloved bodhisattva in the Chinese Buddhist pantheon. With legions of patrons, the mere image of the graceful goddess provides hope for her followers. Often depicted in a long flowing gown, here, she holds a small vase that contains the water of life – believed to bring physical and spiritual peace. Our sculpture is expertly detailed.
