In Ancient Japan, acorns were a main food source. They were harvested and processed intensely to produce acorn cakes. Today in Korea, acorns are the main component in an important jelly called dotorimuk. It was eaten by many during the Korean War when food was scare and was subsequently considered poor people’s food. Today it is known for being a health food.
